Personal Citizen Number: step-by-step guide to issuance

It’s official, the Personal Citizen Number (PCN) is now part of our lives and is here to stay. It serves as the unique identifier for Greek citizens in the digital realm, enabling secure interactions with public services.

Does it replace other registry numbers?

No, the PCN does not replace existing registry numbers like the Tax Identification Number (AFM), Social Security Number (AMKA), or ID Card Number (ADT). These continue to serve different administrative purposes. However, citizens no longer need to remember or confirm these numbers for identification, as they can be retrieved automatically through the PCN Registry.

Where to find it

The Personal Citizen Number is shown:

  • on the new ID card (back side)
  • on the digital ID in the gov.gr Wallet

How to obtain it

You can obtain your PCN through the Gov.gr – MyInfo platform using:

If you don’t meet these criteria, issuance is also possible:

  • at a Citizen Service Center (KEP)
  • via a consular authority (for citizens abroad)
